Some important points about Air Conditioning Systems

INTRODUCTION :
Modern civilization is showing an increasing fascination towards the air conditioning machines . This demand is increasing day by day to fulfill the human comfort . According to American society of heating . Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers , human comfort is defined as that condition of mind which expresses satisfaction with the thermal environment . hence the subject has a broad sense which includes the conditioning of air for industrial purposes , lifestyle of a hi-fi society , food processing , storage of food and other materials, computerized and sophisticated instrumentation , auditorium , cinema hall etc.

FACTORS AFFECTING COMFORT A.C.
The following four factors for comfort air conditioning are basically taken into account . These are following :
  1. Temperature of air : In air conditioning , the control of temperature means the maintenance of any desired temperature within an enclosed space even though the temperature of the outside air is above or below the desired room temperature . This is accomplished either by the addition or removal of heat from the enclosed space as and when demanded . It may be noted that a human being feels comfortable when the air is at 21 degree centigrade with 56 percentage humidity .

  3. HUMIDITY OF AIR : The control of humidity of air means the increasing or decreasing of moisture contents of air during summer or winter respectively in order to produce comfortable and healthy conditions .The control of humidity is not only necessary for human comfort but it also increases the efficiency of the workers . In general , for summer air conditioning , the relative humidity should not be lass then 60% where as for winter air conditioning , it should not be more than 40% .

Some important things about IDEAL GAS

Some important things about IDEAL GAS

The experiments on the conversion of work into heat have shown clearly that heat is a form of energy. This energy is connected with the motion of molecules of which the matter is made of. Kinetic theory of matter gives an explanation to the nature of this motion and the nature of heat energy.
According to kinetic theory of matter, every substance consists of a very large particles of a substance that can exist in free state. the molecules posses there characteristics properties of the parent substance. the molecules are in a state of continuous motion with all possible velocities. The velocity of the molecules increases with rise in temperature.
The energy possessed by the molecules can be two forms, kinetic or potential. when the stopcock of an evacuated flask is opened , air rushes in quickly to fill in the space. this shows that the molecules posses rapid motion and hence they posses kinetic energy. when a solids expand on heating, the molecules are pulled apart against the force of intermolecular attraction. the amount of work done in separating the molecules to larger distances manifests itself as the potential energy of the molecules. Thus the amount of heat given to a solid substance increases the energy of the molecules and this increase the energy is partly kinetics and partly potential.
Thus , the kinetic theory of matter is based on the following three points , first is that the matter is made up of molecules , second is molecules are in rapid motion and the third is molecules experience forces of attraction between one another.
the validity and the soundness of any theory depends on its capability to explain the observed facts ; for example the three states of matter , expansion, change of state and conduction.
